We are excited about a number of changes we are making for the 2010-2011 season.
We expect you will share this excitement, since these changes all flow directly
from the survey of our families which we conducted earlier this season. In the
survey, our Charles River families clearly indicated that they generally wanted
a higher level of commitment from players, coaches and parents, with more focus
on player development opportunities. As a result, we have made certain changes
to the team structures and practice regimen, as outlined below.
For the first time, we will arrange for several of our teams to play an
independent schedule against boys teams, in addition to their regular schedule
against girls teams in the NEGHL. These games will be both regular games on a
full sheet of ice, as well as 3v3 format games, consistent with the designs of
the American Development Model. This change should add a new competitive element
for our teams. The 3v3 scrimmages should encourage creativity and allow for more
puck touches in a less structured environment.
This year, we are adding a U13-1 team, in addition to our U14-1, 14-2 and U14-3
teams. The U14-1 team (open only to 1996 birth years) will stop practicing
after the RI Panther Tournament but will continue to play games (plus the Polar
Bear and State Tournaments) to accommodate girls playing for their high school
teams. The U13-1 (open only to 1997 birth years) and the U14-2 and U14-3 teams
(both open to 1996 and 1997 birth years) will all play full seasons. This
change should allow most of our U14 girls a full, competitive season of hockey
with Charles River.
We are making two major changes to our skills practices. First, we are moving
skills back to Thursday nights to ensure maximum participation. Second,
Lovell's Hockey will be taking over the skills program for the Charles River
girls. In addition, we will be incorporating off-ice training into our regular
practice schedule, which will be held at Boch Ice on the mezzanine level. The
dryland training will be designed for improved conditioning and injury
prevention.
These changes will cost money. You will notice an increase in tuitions for all
the teams this year to pay for the extra services. In addition, for the
younger teams, we will be asking you to purchase CR hockey bags and warm up
suits, to establish a more consistent and appropriate look and feel for the
program. Included in most tuitions will be practice jerseys, game socks, a CR
hat and helmet decal. We are always sensitive to the cost of playing hockey
for our families. Charles River tuitions remain at a meaningful discount to
those programs with whom we compete and competitive with the cost of town
programs, which offer fewer services.
TUITION AMOUNTS FOR 2010-2011 SEASON
U10-1: $2,200. Two practices, one skills, one NEGHL game (National division),
1 boys game (Yankee conference) per week. Includes 4 tournaments, off-ice
training, practice jersey, game socks, CR Hat and helmet decal.
U10-2: $1,625. Two practices, one skills, one NEGHL game (American division)
per week. Includes off-ice training, 3v3 scrimmages, practice jersey, game
socks, CR Hat and helmet decal.
U10-3: $1,625. Two practices, one skills, one MYCGL game per week. Includes
off-ice training, practice jersey, game socks, CR Hat and helmet decal.
U12-1: $1,975. Two practices, one skills, one NEGHL game (National division)
per week. Includes 4 tournaments, off-ice training, 3v3 scrimmages, practice
jersey, game socks, CR Hat and helmet decal.
U12-2: $1,850. Two practices, one skills, one NEGHL game (American division)
per week. Includes 4 tournaments, off-ice training, 3v3 scrimmages, practice
jersey, game socks, CR Hat and helmet decal.
U12-3: $1,700. Two practices, one skills, one NEGHL game (Liberty division)
per week. Includes 1 tournament, off-ice training, 3v3 scrimmages, practice
jersey, game socks, CR Hat and helmet decal.
U12-4: $1,700, two practices, one skills, one MYCGL game per week. Includes
one tournament, off-ice training, practice jersey, game socks, CR Hat and helmet
decal.
U14-1 (1996 only): $1,300. Two practices, one skills, one NEGHL game (National
division) per week. Includes 4 tournaments, off-ice training, practice jersey,
game socks, CR Hat and helmet decal. GAMES & TOURNAMENTS ONLY after
Thanksgiving; practice and skills stop after Thanksgiving.

U14-3 (1996 & 1997): $1,725. Two practices, one skills, one MYCGL game per
week. Includes 2 tournaments, off-ice training, practice jersey, game socks, CR
Hat and helmet decal. Full season.
U16-1: $875. One practice and one NEGHL game (National division) per week.
Includes 3 tournaments, practice jersey, game socks, CR hat. Half season-all
games and practices stop after Thanksgiving, except for tournaments.
U16-2: $850. One practice and one NEGHL game (American division) per week.
Includes 3 tournaments, practice jersey, game socks, CR hat. Half season-all
games and practices stop after Thanksgiving, except for tournaments.
U19-1: $925. One practice and one NEGHL game (National division) per week.
Includes 3 tournaments, practice jersey, game socks, CR hat. Half season-all

U19-2: $900. One practice and one NEGHL game (American division) per week.
